Mae, the orphan and town outcast, knows that being called into The Factory is a gamble, but getting out will make her village notice her again. Javeen has to get out for the sake of his family. With a presumed dead father, and a mother who refuses to take care of her four children, he is all they have keeping them together. Norris Norton Nackered is a little too puffed up with his own importance to worry about little things like clues and prefers instead to jump to conclusions. Thus, totally innocent characters, like Louis Leather (leader of The Kitty Cruncher motorcycle gang) and Purritney, (lead singer of The Kittycat Babes) become suspects for the theft. But eventually, Humphrey Hound Dog discovers who the culprit was and also discovers that he is not really a culprit at all. Find out if the purrs are returned to The Academy in time for graduation and there are celebrations all around. This is a detective story, and a love story combined. Other enchanting characters like Percy Purrfect - son of Vincent B Mouseander, Carlton Catwallader, chief accountant at The Purr Factory and Thomas Troutmaster – dispatch manager at The Purr Factory are all involved in the search for the missing purrs. The Purr Factory is a wonderful audio-book and picture book combined.
